The Torch

Posted on October 27, 2009

If you don’t work for CTV and criticize them for allowing 27 of their “journalists” or as they say “story tellers” to carry the Olympic Torch across Canada, it’s sour grapes, and we are jealous because we aren’t part of the select group. Well this is one cowboy who is thoroughly bitter. I mean, can’t you just imagine taking the torch from Tanya Kim? She’d probably hand it off gushing “what a like totally awesome honour it was and like, I’ll remember it for as long I like, can!!!!! Or how about Ben Mulroney, saying, “here take it may hair is out of place”. It’s just too bad that Ivan Fecan isn’t carrying the torch. He’d probably have one of his minions hand it off because he wouldn’t want to come in contact with the unwashed of the world. The best would be Brian Williams. I can just hear him now, “I’ve been carrying this torch since 10:30 in the east, noon in Newfoundland, and it is by far the best torch I have ever carried”. Ah yes, I do so wish I was part of that august group. It would be such an honour to follow Sandy Rinaldo through Bactouche Saskatchewan. If only!!!!

Hockey!! A Canadian Game????

Posted on October 1, 2009

It may be our national sport, but no way is hockey a Canadian game any longer. Thanks to Gary Bettman and his crew, we’ve been screwed again. Wether you like Jim Balsilies tactics or not, a franchise in Hamilton could and would have been a gold mine. But Bettman and his henchmen put a stop to that. But when you think of it, the erosion started long ago. Not with the the departure of Winnipeg and Quebec to the wild west, but with the departure of our best players. Think about it. Where did Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr, and Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky play their hockey. All south of the border. The purpose was to make the game more popular in the States. Did it work? Ask Jerry Moyes. Obviously not. We like to call it our game, but let’s be honest, it hasn’t been our game for two generations, and things aren’t about to change.
